About the role#
We are looking for a full-time Civil Engineering Intern to join our Transportation Team in New York City for the summer of 2027. This 12-week program begins on May 17, 2027, and offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff. You will contribute to real projects and participate in our Developing Professionals Network for mentorship and networking. Please note that this is not a structural engineering position.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn principles of Civil Engineering through work in public transit, roadway, drainage, and utility projects.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies regarding safety and ethics.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program in Civil Engineering or a related field with an expected graduation date of May 2028 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and digital tools.
- Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microstation is a plus.

- Compensation: $19 - $30 per hour.
- This is a paid, full-time position. We do not provide relocation or housing assistance.
