About the role#
Barr Engineering Co. is hiring a civil engineering intern for a full-time, paid position in Minneapolis. This role runs for approximately three months during the summer of 2027. You will support our Engineering and Design business unit by working on project teams to deliver technical assignments. We offer a hybrid work arrangement that splits time between our Minneapolis office and a home office.
What you'll do#
- Complete site development designs.
- Perform civil design and analysis.
- Conduct AutoCAD and Civil 3D drafting and design.
- Perform field sampling and data collection.
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, and reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align technical work with project objectives.
- Travel and adjust your schedule periodically to meet project needs or client deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing enrollment in a civil engineering or related degree program.
- Completion of at least two semesters of physics and three semesters of mathematics.
- At least one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- A current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work in locations with rough terrain, moving machinery, or other industrial conditions.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
