About the role#
Barr is looking for an electrical engineering intern to join our Duluth team for the summer of 2027. In this hybrid role, you will support the Engineering and Design business unit by providing technical expertise on projects related to power distribution, controls, and instrumentation. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to provide quality deliverables while gaining hands-on experience in a professional consulting environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic engineering calculations and analysis.
- Develop design details and assist in creating technical solutions.
- Monitor construction projects and prepare drawings, specifications, and sketches.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project objectives.
- Present technical information to diverse audiences.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing enrollment in an electrical engineering degree program.
- At least one full-time semester of coursework remaining after the internship.
- Completion of at least two semesters of physics and three semesters of mathematics.
- A current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software.

- This position is based in Duluth, Minnesota, and offers a hybrid work arrangement.
- The internship is a full-time, paid position running for three months during the summer of 2027.
- You must be willing to travel and occasionally adjust your schedule to meet project deadlines.
- Work may take place in industrial environments with rough terrain, moving machinery, and limited accessibility.
