About the role#
Barr Engineering Co. is hiring a mechanical engineering intern for the summer of 2027. This position is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and operates on a hybrid schedule. You will join the Engineering and Design group to support project teams on various technical assignments. This internship lasts approximately three months, with start and end dates that can be adjusted to fit your academic schedule.
What you'll do#
- Complete engineering calculations and analyses.
- Select equipment and components for projects.
- Prepare design drawings, specifications, and sketches for system arrangements.
- Write technical reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project goals.
- Occasionally adjust your schedule to meet project deadlines or client needs.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- At least one full-time semester of coursework remaining after the internship concludes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, including sites with rough terrain or moving machinery.
