About the role#
Barr is seeking an environmental intern to join the Minneapolis office for the summer of 2027. You will support the Assessment and Remediation business unit, working on projects related to the evaluation and cleanup of contaminated sites. This role involves both office and field work, with opportunities to work individually or as part of a project team.
What you'll do#
- Support site investigations, environmental sampling, and data collection.
- Assist in the analysis of environmental data and the development of remediation approaches.
- Coordinate field activities and logistics, including contractor oversight and equipment preparation.
- Produce clear field notes, chain-of-custody documentation, and data summaries.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align technical work with project objectives.
- Assist with construction observation, engineering calculations, and draft report sections.
What you'll need#
- Third- or fourth-year student in environmental, chemical, geological, civil, or a related engineering/geology major.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and conduct fieldwork in varying outdoor conditions.

- Modality: Hybrid (splitting time between a Barr office and a home office).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $22.66-$28.90 hourly.
- Travel: Willingness to travel and adjust schedules for project needs is expected, with potential for 50-70% travel and fieldwork.
