About the role#
As a Structural Engineering Intern in our Nuclear Power Group, you will join a project team to support the design of new power plants and the modification of existing systems. You will work under the direction of experienced engineers to gain practical experience in structural engineering. This position is for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Review structural design drawings and vendor drawings.
- Apply your knowledge of structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
- Support engineers and designers in performing structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, equipment supports, and foundations.
- Use data and modern tools to solve engineering problems, including the use of automation and AI to improve workflows and design efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree program in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering.
- A strong academic background with an interest in structural analysis and material behavior.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preference is given to students enrolled in an ABET-accredited program with coursework in steel and concrete design.

Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site in Warrenville, Illinois.
- The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00 to $30.00.
