About the role#
As a Substation Engineer Intern, you will join our Grid business unit in Tampa for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside senior engineers on transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage projects. This role focuses on applying your academic background to real-world engineering tasks and developing technical solutions using modern automation tools.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, and calculations.
- Track and evaluate project progress, data, and activities.
- Contribute to power designs and prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment.
- Solve engineering problems by using automation and AI tools to improve workflows and design efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science degree program, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- Coursework or experience in coding, 3D modeling, and agentic AI.
- Knowledge of design techniques and principles used in the production of technical plans.
- The ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer assistance.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
