About the role#
As a Transmission and Distribution Engineer Intern, you will join the Grid business unit for the summer of 2027. You will work on a project team to design new infrastructure and support upgrades for transmission and distribution systems. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to apply your academic background to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist team members with project execution.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data for reporting.
- Contribute to power designs and prepare documents for the procurement of major equipment and structures.
- Use modern tools, including automation and AI, to solve engineering problems and improve workflows.
- Develop scripts or programs in tools like Python, MATLAB, or Excel to automate calculations and design checks.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Candidates in other engineering degrees may be considered if they have coursework in civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, or electrical power.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize issues, and meet deadlines.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.
- Experience in an ABET-accredited program, campus leadership roles, or prior internships is valued.

- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation of three days per week in the office.
