About the role#
As a Structural Engineering Intern in our Nuclear Power Group, you will join a project team to support the design of new power plants and the modification of existing systems. You will work under the direction of experienced engineers to apply your academic background to real-world structural challenges. This position is for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Review structural design drawings and vendor documentation.
- Apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
- Support a team of engineers in the analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, equipment supports, and foundations.
- Solve engineering problems using modern tools and automation to improve workflows and reduce rework.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering.
- A strong academic background in structural analysis and design.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.

Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site in Chicago, Illinois.
- The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00 to $30.00.
