About the role#
WoodmenLife is seeking a Product Owner Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This role supports the Business Technology and Strategic Initiatives divisions by providing administrative assistance and project support. You will gain experience in the planning, execution, and evaluation stages of insurance projects while working in a hybrid environment.
What you'll do#
- Join the Agile team as a business owner or customer proxy to define and prioritize user stories in the backlog.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure backlog items align with business needs and strategic objectives.
- Act as a liaison between business units and the development team to translate requirements into actionable stories.
- Break down epics into smaller, testable stories using the INVEST criteria.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Meet weekly with the Internship Cohort and company leaders.
- Present a capstone summary of your project accomplishments and skill development at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior in college.
- A major in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- A commitment to providing attentive and resourceful customer service.
- A desire to make an impact in local communities.
