About the role#
The Cybersecurity Operations Intern supports the Technology Governance and Security team. You will work alongside senior team members to learn how security controls are managed and improved across the organization. This role focuses on frontline duties in security operations and incident response. You will gain experience through business-impacting projects and regular mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Support the daily activities of the SOC, IR, and security networking teams.
- Monitor dashboards and event logs, escalating findings to the cybersecurity team as needed.
- Perform front-end troubleshooting and general triage of security tools.
- Assist with governance, risk, and compliance tasks, including third-party risk assessments and GRC tool implementation.
- Stay current on security threats and vulnerabilities by reviewing daily cybersecurity resources.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.
- Fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Hands-on coursework experience with endpoint, network, vulnerability, forensic, and log management tools.
- Basic understanding and practical experience with operating system configuration for Windows, Unix, and Linux.
- Working knowledge of networking concepts like DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
- Introductory knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and operations.

- This is a full-time, paid summer internship for 2027.
- The role is based in Rosemont, Illinois, and follows a hybrid work schedule.
