About the role#
The University of Virginia is hiring a Graduate Office Assistant to support operations at our co-learning space in Fairfax, Virginia. This part-time role supports the Office Manager by maintaining a welcoming environment and ensuring smooth daily operations. You will primarily work during evening and weekend hours.
What you'll do#
- Act as the primary point of contact at the front desk for visitors, students, faculty, and staff.
- Monitor the security, cleanliness, and functionality of classrooms, office spaces, and common areas.
- Set up and break down equipment for events, meetings, and classes.
- Ensure AV and other technology equipment are in working order.
- Manage classroom, desk, and space reservations.
- Handle phone inquiries, office correspondence, and record maintenance.
- Complete additional projects and tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a graduate student at UVA.
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well on teams and handle tasks independently during unsupervised shifts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Experience in public-facing roles is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technology equipment issues is preferred.
