About the role#
As a Student Radiology Tech, you will perform routine diagnostic imaging studies for a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric patients. You will work in a filmless environment using digital imaging systems to provide high-quality care. This is a part-time, on-site role in Sylva, North Carolina, with a varied schedule.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine diagnostic imaging studies and ensure examinations are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and help relieve their anxiety.
- Maintain high standards for image quality, including proper positioning, patient history documentation, and shielding to minimize exposure.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or supply issues to your supervisor.
- Keep your work area clean and free from hazards.
- Educate patients on radiology procedures and work to improve department efficiency and diagnostic quality.
- Make independent decisions when necessary and demonstrate a willingness to assist team members.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Associate Degree program in Radiologic Technology.
- Basic Life Support certification, which must be obtained within 30 days of your start date.
- A solid understanding of anatomy, radiographic positioning, radiation safety, and infection control techniques.
