About the role#
The Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) Office Assistant provides front-line customer service and reception for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You will support the day-to-day operations of the office and assist professional staff with specific projects and events. This is a part-time student wage position for the 2026-2027 academic year.
What you'll do#
- Answer the office phone, greet visitors, and provide information on policies, services, and programs.
- Make referrals and answer routine questions.
- Schedule and monitor FSL Conference Room usage.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the four Greek councils: the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, Inter-Sorority Council, and Inter-Fraternity Council.
- Assist in the development and implementation of resources, programs, and projects.
- Compile, design, and deliver resource materials, including support for programming and social media promotion.
- Help staff coordinate programs to foster a sense of community among office space users.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience planning and organizing meetings, events, or programs.
- The ability to multi-task, work with a team, and take initiative while working independently.
Location & details#
- Location: 180 McCormick Road, Newcomb Hall Room 171, Charlottesville, VA.
- Schedule: Approximately 10 to 15 hours per week. Availability is required Monday through Thursday from 10:00am to 8:00pm and Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
- Pay: $15 per hour.
- Note: Students who qualify for Federal Work-Study receive priority consideration. All selected candidates must attend an orientation on August 24, 2026.
