About the role#
This is a part-time, remote position for current students to support the Appliances Branch of the Efficiency Division at the California Energy Commission. This role involves analytical tasks related to appliance efficiency regulations and database management. Please note that this position is open to internal candidates only.
What you'll do#
- Respond to emails and phone calls from external stakeholders regarding Title 20 Appliance Efficiency Regulations.
- Maintain the appliance efficiency database by collecting data, analyzing trends, and testing new features.
- Write technical responses to inquiries about appliances.
- Support technical staff with regulatory research and analysis of state and federal appliance standards.
- Create documents and update web pages for outreach and education initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university in a relevant major, including Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or various Engineering disciplines.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four-semester units or six quarter units.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 and good academic standing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work and build professional relationships.
Location & details#
- This position is fully remote, though you must reside and perform all work within California.
- Work hours are flexible between 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 12 hours per week required during the academic term.
- You may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during academic breaks.
- This is a paid, temporary, non-benefited position.
