About the role#
The Graduate Assistant for Institutional Research and Integrated Data Analytics supports the Data Hub by maintaining data quality, documentation, and compliance processes. This role is for students interested in data analytics, information management, IT, or higher education administration.
What you'll do#
- Perform data quality checks and assist with the validation of institutional data.
- Identify and document data integrity issues or inconsistencies.
- Support basic data cleanup, formatting, and organization tasks.
- Update and maintain the university data dictionary and metadata repositories.
- Document data definitions, reporting rules, and system workflows.
- Assist in standardizing terminology across departments.
- Help coordinate Data Stewardship and data governance meetings, including preparing agendas, notes, and presentations.
- Maintain project trackers, issue logs, and documentation repositories.
- Support staff in preparing data reports and dashboards.
- Conduct simple data analysis using Excel, Google Sheets, or visualization tools.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
- Current enrollment at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine graduate semester credit hours.
- Good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines.
- Preferred: Coursework or interest in data science, IT, business, or information systems.
- Preferred: Experience with Power BI or Tableau.
- Preferred: Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or R.
