About the role#
The Non-Affiliated Student Technician supports the Strong Teens for Healthy Schools program. You will work with project managers and staff to implement program content for middle school students. This role requires travel to local schools in the Dallas area to deliver lessons.
What you'll do#
- Complete orientation and training provided by AgriLife Research.
- Prepare materials for and teach assigned lessons to middle school students.
- Attend weekly meetings to discuss program implementation.
- Enroll in and complete the Master Wellness Volunteer program.
- Act as a role model for youth by maintaining professional behavior.
- Collaborate with school staff, AgriLife Research personnel, and other student implementers.
- Provide direct mentorship to help youth learn program content.
- Assist with program evaluation, including reports, sign-in sheets, surveys, and data collection.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Motivation to learn and a professional demeanor.
- Comfort with public speaking and working with middle school youth.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented habits.
- Ability to travel to local schools to deliver programs.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Dallas, Texas.
- Commitment: At least one school year, working 5-10 hours per week.
- Status: This is a paid, on-site student worker position.
- Requirements: All positions are security-sensitive. Employment is contingent upon a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials.
