Non-Affiliated Student Technician

About the role#

The Non-Affiliated Student Technician provides administrative and technical support for the Strong Teens for Healthy Schools program. This position involves working directly with middle school students, collaborating with research and extension staff, and assisting with program evaluation and data collection.

What you'll do#

• Participate in all orientation and training sessions provided by AgriLife Research.
• Prepare materials for and teach assigned lessons to middle school students.
• Attend weekly meetings throughout the school year to discuss program implementation.
• Complete the Master Wellness Volunteer program.
• Serve as a role model for youth by exhibiting professional behavior.
• Partner with school staff and fellow student implementers to plan and lead program activities.
• Provide direct mentorship to assist youth in learning program content.
• Assist with program evaluation, including managing reports, sign-in sheets, surveys, and other record-keeping tasks.
• Participate in leadership development opportunities.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Motivation to learn and a professional demeanor.
• Comfort with public speaking and working with middle school youth.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently manage assigned tasks.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High level of organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel to local schools in the county to deliver programs.
• Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Location & details#

• Location: Dallas, Texas.
• Schedule: Anticipated commitment of at least one school year, working 5-10 hours per week.
• Requirements: This is a security-sensitive position; employment is contingent upon a successful criminal history investigation and verification of credentials.
