About the role#
The Peer Assisted Student Support (PASS) Program provides one-on-one tutoring to students at American University. Tutors are currently enrolled students who support their peers in specific courses. This is a part-time position with expected hours ranging from 2 to 6 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one tutoring for your supported courses.
- Prepare for sessions by reviewing appointment forms and course concepts.
- Complete post-appointment client report forms and distribute surveys to attendees.
- Use time during empty sessions to complete role-related tasks.
- Attend semester trainings and meet with tutoring staff at least twice per semester.
- Conduct peer observations of other tutors.
- Visit classes to advertise the PASS Program.
- Submit time sheets and surveys accurately and on time.
What you'll need#
- You must be an enrolled student at American University.
- You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout your employment.

- This role is located on the American University main campus in Washington, DC.
- Work is on-site.
- Positions are part-time and renew each semester based on performance and enrollment status.
