About the role#
The Sacramento State College Corps is hiring a graduate student for a Retention and Engagement role. This position supports the coordination and advising of 20 to 30 student fellows within the Sacramento Valley College Corps. This is a part-time, temporary position open only to current Sacramento State graduate students.
What you'll do#
- Provide general advising and coordinate services for student fellows.
- Develop recruitment tactics using print, web, email, social media, phone, and presentations.
- Assist students with program enrollment, maintenance requirements, and document submission deadlines.
- Verify financial aid, academic progress, and service hours.
- Help students complete time reporting and connect them with campus or community resources.
- Maintain regular communication and check-ins with fellows to solve issues affecting their success.
- Lead training, instruction, and program activities.
- Collaborate with staff to collect, track, and analyze data for grant reporting.
- Complete required reporting for California Volunteers and AmeriCorps.
- Track student submissions and approve background checks and registration processes.
- Attend ongoing College Corps trainings and meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sacramento State graduate student in at least four-semester units.
- Strong organizational, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
- Excellent communication, professional etiquette, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience gathering, computing, and analyzing scientific data is preferred.
- Ability to analyze situations and adopt effective courses of action.
- Reliability, punctuality, and general knowledge of office environments.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM. Hours are flexible based on supervisor needs.
- Workload: Generally up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
- Employment is subject to a background check.
