About the role#
This externship at Solano-Napa Pet Emergency Clinic offers veterinary students clinical experience in an emergency hospital setting. You will work alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world cases. The clinic treats dogs and cats and provides services including emergency care, ultrasound, endoscopy, and soft tissue surgery.
What you'll do#
You will integrate into the hospital team to gain hands-on experience. Your responsibilities include:
- Participating in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Providing hands-on patient care in general practice, emergency, and specialty settings.
- Actively participating in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments.
- Discussing cases with supervising veterinarians to verify exam findings and treatment plans.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Priority is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.

- This position is located in Fairfield, California.
- The role is on-site and full-time.
- Scheduling is on a rolling basis, with priority for 4th-year students.
- This is a paid externship with stipends available to offset travel and lodging costs, unless prohibited by your school.
