About the role#
Blue Springs Animal Hospital offers clinical externships for veterinary students. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a multi-doctor general practice setting. You will work alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff to gain confidence in your clinical skills. We welcome students at any stage of their education, from first year through fourth year.
What you'll do#
- Participate in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Provide hands-on patient care under the supervision of experienced veterinarians.
- Engage in surgical cases, dental procedures, and emergency care.
- Conduct routine medical appointments and sick patient workups.
- Discuss exam findings with your supervisor to verify your diagnostic plans.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Experience in a general practice setting is preferred.
- We accept students from majors including Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Psychology, and Agriculture.
- Priority scheduling is given to clinical-year students.
