About the role#
United Veterinary Care offers clinical externships for veterinary students at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Port Charlotte, Florida. This program provides hands-on experience in an emergency hospital setting. You will work alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff to gain confidence in your clinical skills. The clinic treats dogs and cats and offers services including ultrasound, soft tissue surgery, and emergency care.
What you'll do#
- Actively participate in patient cases.
- Assist with surgical cases, dental procedures, and emergencies.
- Perform sick patient workups and routine medical appointments.
- Discuss cases with your supervising veterinarian to review exam findings and treatment plans.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Priority is given to students in their clinical years completing externship blocks for school credit.
