About the role#
This externship at HousePaws Mobile Veterinary Services offers veterinary students a chance to apply classroom knowledge in a clinical setting. You will work within a practice that combines mobile veterinary care with traditional hospital-based procedures. The program is designed to integrate you into the team, allowing you to gain experience across general practice, emergency, and specialty settings.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily case discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Provide hands-on patient care for dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, pigs, and small ruminants.
- Engage in surgical cases, dental procedures, and routine medical appointments.
- Discuss exam findings with your supervising veterinarian to confirm your clinical plans.
- Assist with emergency care and sick patient workups.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Eligibility is prioritized for students in their 3rd or 4th clinical year.
- You must provide proof of professional liability insurance.
- A willingness to actively participate in a variety of clinical cases is required.
