About the role#
Animal Clinic East hosts veterinary students for clinical externships. This role allows you to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world hospital setting. You will work with a team to gain experience in a full-service facility that treats dogs, cats, and exotics. The clinic is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association and focuses on mentorship for students.
What you'll do#
You will integrate into the team to participate in daily hospital operations. Your time will include:
- Engaging in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Providing hands-on patient care across general practice, emergency, and specialty settings.
- Participating in surgical cases, dental procedures, and routine medical appointments under supervision.
- Discussing cases with a supervising veterinarian to verify exam findings and treatment plans.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Priority is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- A desire to expand medical and communication skills.
- The ability to actively participate in cases.
