About the role#
Companion Animal Clinic in Blacksburg, Virginia, offers a veterinary externship for students currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited VMD or DVM program. This externship provides an opportunity to work within an AAHA-accredited practice that serves both companion animals and exotics. Externs will work alongside a team of six veterinarians and multiple licensed veterinary technicians in a collaborative clinical environment.
What you'll do#
- Receive mentorship from multiple experienced veterinarians.
- Assist in clinical procedures and provide support to the veterinary staff.
- Engage in professional development opportunities and gain exposure to VetEvolve practices.
- Support the management of medical and vacation boarding.
- Gain hands-on experience in wellness and dentistry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school (VMD or DVM degree path).
- A strong interest in working with companion animals and exotics.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with team members and clients.
- Foundational clinical skills in wellness and dentistry.
