DVM/VMD Extern

About the role#

Lancaster Veterinary Specialties offers a DVM/VMD externship designed to provide veterinary students with hands-on experience in a specialty practice setting. Externs work alongside experienced veterinarians in a state-of-the-art facility, gaining exposure to specialized procedures and collaborative clinical care.

What you'll do#

• Assist with specialized procedures in cardiology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, oncology, radiology, and surgery.
• Participate in mentorship programs led by experienced clinical staff.
• Engage in training and collaborative environments to build professional skills.
• Gain exposure to advanced diagnostic tools, including in-house lab capabilities, digital x-ray, and ultrasound.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school (DVM or VMD degree path).
• Interest in working within a collaborative team environment.
• Openness to receiving mentorship from experienced veterinarians.
• Ability to work effectively in a modern, well-equipped facility.

• Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: This is a paid externship; a stipend is provided to offset housing and travel costs.
• Schedule: Full-time, rolling term.
