About the role#
Lancaster Veterinary Specialties offers a DVM/VMD externship designed to provide veterinary students with hands-on experience in a specialty practice setting. Externs work alongside experienced veterinarians in a state-of-the-art facility, gaining exposure to specialized procedures and collaborative clinical care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with specialized procedures in cardiology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, oncology, radiology, and surgery.
- Participate in mentorship programs led by experienced clinical staff.
- Engage in training and collaborative environments to build professional skills.
- Gain exposure to advanced diagnostic tools, including in-house lab capabilities, digital x-ray, and ultrasound.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school (DVM or VMD degree path).
- Interest in working within a collaborative team environment.
- Openness to receiving mentorship from experienced veterinarians.
- Ability to work effectively in a modern, well-equipped facility.

- Compensation: This is a paid externship; a stipend is provided to offset housing and travel costs.
