About the role#
United Veterinary Care hosts veterinary students for clinical externships at our Round Rock hospital. This program allows you to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world hospital setting. You will share your goals at the start of your rotation and integrate into our team to gain experience under the supervision of experienced veterinarians and support staff.
What you'll do#
- Participate in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Engage in hands-on patient care across GP, ER, and specialty settings.
- Assist with supervised surgical cases and dental procedures.
- Manage workups for emergencies and sick patients.
- Handle routine medical appointments.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Enrollment in your 3rd or 4th year of veterinary school is required.
- Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
- You must provide proof of professional liability insurance.
- SAVMA members are eligible for no-cost insurance.
