About the role#
This externship program provides practical experience for veterinary students in a small animal practice. You will work alongside our team to build your technical, communication, and problem-solving skills. The program is flexible, with rotations typically lasting two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks to fit your curriculum. You will work days, evenings, and weekends while receiving a stipend of $250 per week.
What you'll do#
- Gather animal histories.
- Perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Assist in the management of medical cases.
- Participate in all aspects of patient care, including surgery and wellness visits.
- Produce medical records and SOAPs.
- Practice client communication.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Current professional liability insurance.
- Familiarity with the Veterinary Practice Act and the required scope of supervision.
