About the role#
As a Year Round Intern in the Technology Department, you will work within our Application Development, Cybersecurity, or Infrastructure teams. You will contribute to projects that build secure systems and platforms for our transportation and logistics network. This role provides hands-on experience and interaction with peers and senior leaders while you continue your education.
What you'll do#
- Learn and perform core processes to build and support enterprise software applications.
- Participate in design sessions, sprint planning, and code reviews.
- Track and maintain project status using JIRA.
- Build a professional network across different departments within the company.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, MIS, or a related field.
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework.
- Currently attending a college or university within commuting distance of Omaha, Nebraska.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in an object-oriented programming language such as Java, Python, or C++.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Omaha, Nebraska.
- You are expected to work primarily on-site at the Union Pacific Center, with some flexibility for remote work as approved by your manager.
- During the academic year, the schedule is approximately 20 hours per week.
- You are expected to work full-time in Omaha during the summer.
- The pay range is $22 to $28 per hour, depending on your year of study, qualifications, and experience.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
