About the role#
As an intern on the Axon Electrical Engineering team, you will work alongside senior engineers and mentors to build electronic circuits for TASER products. You will apply your academic knowledge to real-world applications, moving from prototyping through validation. This role involves collaborating with mechanical and software teams to support technology used by law enforcement and public safety agencies.
What you'll do#
- Support the TASER team in designing, developing, testing, debugging, and building new products.
- Collaborate with peers and senior engineers to deliver electronic designs.
- Develop and execute test plans, define test methods, and validate designs.
- Use lab tools like oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters to characterize and debug systems.
- Evaluate and document design outcomes and present findings to design teams.
- Review product design requirements against system objectives.
- Participate in schematic design for embedded mixed-signal circuits and contribute to PCB design implementations.
- Engage in design reviews and inspections to assess circuit performance and verify compliance.
What you'll need#
- Senior standing in a college program for Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Strong academic performance and the ability to apply classroom knowledge to practical problems.
- Knowledge of discrete analog and digital components.
- Hands-on bench experience with standard lab equipment.
- Ability to read and analyze component datasheets and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with documentation and presentation tools.
- Experience developing embedded hardware systems in a cross-functional team.
- Schematic design experience using Cadence, OrCAD Capture, or similar tools.
- Understanding of common power supply topologies and their trade-offs.
- Soldering experience for PCB population or component replacement.
Location & details#
- This internship is based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
- The role follows a hybrid schedule with onsite work required Tuesday through Friday.
- The term runs during Summer 2027, with a preferred duration of 12 weeks.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
