Service Intern - High School

About the role#

TRULAND Equipment offers a part-time internship for high school students interested in gaining hands-on experience within a Service Department. This role provides an opportunity to work with John Deere equipment while developing technical skills in a professional shop environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist the Service Manager and technicians with the daily operation of the department.
• Help service technicians with repairing, servicing, and moving equipment.
• Maintain and organize the shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Develop skills in the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of machine components.
• Document diagnostics and repairs on work orders accurately and on time.
• Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspection on new equipment.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with peers and management while providing customer service.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations in the workplace.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a local high school.
• A minimum GPA as required by your specific school.
• A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets insurance requirements.
• An interest in learning the methods, tools, and techniques used to repair outdoor power and agricultural equipment.
• Fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrains, air-conditioning, and electrical systems.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 lbs, standing, walking, and kneeling.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
