About the role#
This position is for students planning to attend a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program. You will participate in a two-year associate degree program while gaining hands-on experience through on-the-job training at the dealership. The goal is to prepare you for a career as a certified service mechanic.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech School.
- Work onsite at the dealership to complete required hours and assist senior technicians with basic service tasks.
- Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR training.
- Develop skills in the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspection of new equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostics and repairs on work orders.
- Keep your work area clean and perform all tasks in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while operating tools and equipment.
What you'll need#
- Intent to enroll in or current enrollment in a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program at a participating college.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet the minimum required hours for onsite work at the dealership.
- An understanding of service department operations and labor efficiencies is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
