About the role#
The John Deere Tech Student position is a two-year internship program designed to prepare students for a career as a service mechanic at a John Deere dealership. This role combines on-the-job training at the dealership with a two-year associate degree program. Upon graduation, students are expected to be proficient in core service areas and transition into full-time employment.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech school.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn essential mechanical skills.
- Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR™ training.
- Perform removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Conduct pre-delivery set-up and inspection of new equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostics and repairs on work orders.
- Manage billable time and meet labor efficiency goals.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment safely.
- Keep a clean, neat, and orderly work area while adhering to all safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or have firm plans to enroll in a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program at a participating college.
- Willingness to learn and assist service technicians with fundamental tasks.
- Ability to complete the minimum hours required for onsite work at the dealership.
- Commitment to following all safety rules and regulations.
- Strong focus on maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
