About the role#
The John Deere Tech Student program is a two-year associate degree path designed to prepare you for a career as a service mechanic. You will combine instructor-led classroom and lab training with hands-on experience at the dealership. This role focuses on developing technical skills in John Deere products and systems, with the goal of becoming a certified technician upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training through an accredited John Deere Tech School.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks, including the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR training.
- Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspections of new equipment.
- Document diagnostics and repairs accurately and account for billable time on work orders.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Complete required John Deere University credits and participate in Service EDUCATE training programs.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or have firm plans to enroll in a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program at a participating college.
- Willingness to assist service technicians with basic service tasks.
- Ability to complete the minimum hours required for onsite work at the dealership.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean work area and performing tasks in a neat, orderly fashion.
- Adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
