About the role#

The John Deere Tech Student position is a two-year educational and professional program designed to prepare individuals for a career as a service mechanic at a John Deere dealership. This role combines classroom and lab training with on-the-job experience at the dealership. Participants must be enrolled in, or have firm plans to enroll in, a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program at a participating college.

What you'll do#

• Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech School.
• Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn key technical concepts.
• Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR™ training.
• Develop skills in the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of equipment components.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders.
• Develop an understanding of service department operations, labor efficiencies, and dealer business systems.
• Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspection of new equipment as needed.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow all safety regulations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or firm plans to enroll in a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program.
• Knowledge of or aptitude for Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR™ systems.
• Ability to perform basic service tasks under the guidance of senior technicians.
• Understanding of labor efficiencies and service department operations.
• Willingness to learn and work in a team-driven environment.
