John Deere Tech Student

About the role#

The John Deere Tech Student program is a two-year associate degree path designed to prepare individuals for a career as a service mechanic. This role combines instructor-led classroom and lab training with hands-on, on-site experience at the dealership. Students work toward certification in John Deere’s core service areas: Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR™.

What you'll do#

• Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech School.
• Complete the required minimum hours of on-site work at the dealership.
• Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn to perform assigned maintenance.
• Develop skills in the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of equipment components.
• Document diagnostics and repairs thoroughly on work orders and account for billable time.
• Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive product lines.
• Develop an understanding of labor efficiencies and service department operations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or plans to attend a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program at a participating college.
• Ability to assist service technicians with fundamental service tasks.
• Commitment to obtaining certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR™ training.
• Pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agriculture.
