About the role#
The John Deere Tech Student program is a two-year associate degree path designed to prepare you for a career as a service mechanic. This role combines on-the-job training at TRULAND Equipment with instructor-led classroom and lab coursework at an accredited John Deere TECH program. You will gain hands-on experience by assisting senior technicians with service tasks, diagnostics, and equipment maintenance while working toward full-time employment upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech School.
- Assist senior technicians with the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR™ training.
- Complete required John Deere University credits.
- Perform basic service tasks, including pre-delivery set-up and equipment inspections.
- Document diagnostics and repairs on work orders accurately and on time.
- Develop an understanding of service department operations, labor efficiencies, and dealer business systems.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and a clean, orderly work area while following all safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or intent to attend a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program at a participating college.
- Ability to complete a two-year associate degree.
- Understanding of service department operations and dealer business systems.
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment with a focus on meeting customer needs.
- Willingness to learn and perform in a hands-on technical environment.
