About the role#
The John Deere Tech Student position is a two-year associate degree program designed to prepare students for a career as a service technician. Participants split their time between an accredited John Deere Tech school and on-the-job training at the dealership. This role focuses on building technical proficiency in John Deere systems, equipment maintenance, and service department operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech school.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn essential mechanical skills.
- Develop an understanding of labor efficiencies and work to meet established goals.
- Perform equipment diagnostics, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Document repairs and diagnostics on work orders, ensuring timely submission of information.
- Maintain a clean, orderly workspace and adhere to all safety regulations.
- Participate in required Service EDUCATE training programs to further skill development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or plans to attend a certified John Deere Ag Tech program at a participating college.
- Ability to complete the minimum required onsite hours at the dealership.
- Commitment to obtaining certification in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR training.
- Interest in pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agriculture.
