About the role#
The John Deere Tech Student position is a structured, two-year program designed to prepare students for a career as a service technician. Participants balance instructor-led classroom and lab training at an accredited John Deere Tech School with on-the-job training at the dealership. This is a paid, full-time opportunity that leads to a career as a certified service mechanic upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech School.
- Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR™ training.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn key technical skills.
- Develop an understanding of service department operations and labor efficiency.
- Perform removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Conduct pre-delivery set-up and inspection of new equipment.
- Maintain thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs on work orders.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment while adhering to safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or firm plans to enroll in a Certified John Deere Ag Tech Program at a participating college.
- Pursuit of a two-year associate's degree in the John Deere Tech program.
- Foundational understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to assist service technicians with basic service tasks.
- Knowledge of service department operations.
