About the role#
The John Deere Tech Student position is a two-year associate degree program designed to prepare students for a career as a service mechanic at a John Deere dealership. Participants combine on-the-job training at the dealership with instructor-led classroom and lab training at a participating college. This role is intended for individuals planning to attend a certified John Deere Ag Tech program.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech School.
- Participate in on-the-job training at the dealership to assist senior technicians with basic service tasks.
- Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR training.
- Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspection of new equipment.
- Develop an understanding of service department operations, labor efficiencies, and the dealer business system.
- Document diagnostics and repairs on work orders and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
- Operate and maintain the tools and equipment required to perform service responsibilities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment or plans to attend a certified John Deere Ag Tech program at a participating college.
- A strong willingness to learn and work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience or coursework in mechanical or electrical systems is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic service tasks and demonstrate a quick learning aptitude when working with senior technicians.
