About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at Trinity Health, you will join our patient care team to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. You will work in partnership with and under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide essential support to patients. This role is designed for nursing students who want to apply their academic knowledge to real-world patient care while preparing for their future as a Registered Nurse.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic direct patient care tasks as directed by a Registered Nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) based on their specific needs.
- Provide nutritional support, including bed setup and assistance with feeding.
- Monitor patients and report any changes in their condition to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
- Help with the patient admission process by collecting assessment data.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment and good standing at an accredited school of nursing.
- Maintenance of active student status throughout your employment.
- Successful completion of two clinical nursing rotations, including at least one Medical/Surgical rotation.
- A current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
