About the role#
This position is for a Clinical Nursing Student to work as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Orthopedic Unit at West Hospital. The role provides hands-on clinical experience through job shadowing and direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will work 36 hours per week on a schedule that includes days and evenings.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and daily activities.
- Record vital signs and monitor patient conditions, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Document patient care information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to support the nursing process and ensure quality care delivery.
- Participate in hand-off reports and follow delegated tasks once competency is validated.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- The ability to understand and follow the directions of the healthcare team.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient safety standards.
