About the role#
This is a part-time, on-site role for a Surgical Tech Student based in Davenport, Iowa. This position is designed for students currently enrolled in a Surgical Technologist program who are within their final six months of study. Participants receive $1,000 in monthly financial support for up to six months and reimbursement for applicable certification or licensure fees up to $500. Upon graduation, you will transition into a full-time Surgical Tech role with a commitment to work at MercyOne for at least 18 months.
What you'll do#
- Assist the circulating nurse in assessing patient needs and implementing care plans.
- Prepare operating rooms and confirm the correctness of surgical sites.
- Manage the sterile field, handle specimens, and assist with room turnover under supervision.
- Use surgeon preference cards to ensure accurate setup and identify necessary updates.
- Develop and maintain technical skills across all surgical specialties.
- Help manage hospital resources and maintain department supply levels.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Surgical Technologist program.
- Status within the final 6 months of your program.
- Agreement to a post-graduation commitment of 18 months of full-time employment as a Surgical Tech.
