About the role#
The Business Insurance Underwriting Professional Development Program Internship is a 10-week summer program designed for students interested in a career in insurance. You will gain first-hand experience in commercial underwriting, receive on-the-job training, and work alongside industry professionals. This role serves as a potential pathway to our full-time Underwriting Professional Development Program.
What you'll do#
- Complete core assignments and training modules focused on insurance and underwriting principles.
- Work on projects assigned by your manager, which may include territorial risk assessments or business process analysis.
- Present your project findings to local leadership.
- Complete self-paced courses in areas like time management and presentation skills.
- Use modern analytical and AI tools, while applying critical thinking to evaluate the quality and accuracy of AI-assisted outputs.
- Learn about other corporate functions such as Risk Control and Claims.
- Join agency visits with Account Executives.
- Participate in the Enterprise Internship experience, including networking events and the Rising Senior Intern Symposium.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing or obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Risk Management and Insurance, or Liberal Arts with a business focus.
- Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work on-site for the duration of the summer 2027 term.

- Location: Independence, Ohio.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Compensation: $25.00 to $26.00 per hour, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.
