About the role#
The Business Insurance Underwriting Professional Development Program (BI UPDP) Internship is a 10-week summer program for students interested in a career in commercial insurance underwriting. This role offers hands-on experience in evaluating risk and determining pricing for insurance products. It serves as a potential pathway to our full-time Underwriting Professional Development Program. You will work with a designated coach and gain exposure to various corporate functions.
What you'll do#
- Complete core training modules focused on insurance and underwriting principles.
- Finish self-paced professional development courses covering presentation skills and time management.
- Manage project work independently or with other interns and present findings to local leadership.
- Learn to use modern analytical and artificial intelligence tools while evaluating the accuracy of AI-assisted outputs.
- Explore company departments such as Risk Control and Claims.
- Attend agency visits with Account Executives.
- Participate in the Enterprise Internship experience, including networking events and the Rising Senior Intern Symposium.
What you'll need#
- You must be pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor's degree.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, Risk Management and Insurance, or Liberal Arts with a business focus.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
