About the role#
The Business Insurance Underwriting Professional Development Program (BI UPDP) Internship is a 10-week summer program designed for students interested in a career in commercial insurance underwriting. This role offers hands-on experience in evaluating risk and pricing insurance products. It serves as a potential pathway to our full-time Underwriting Professional Development Program. You will work with a designated coach in an assigned business unit.
What you'll do#
- Complete training modules focused on core insurance and underwriting principles.
- Finish self-paced professional development courses covering time management and presentation skills.
- Conduct project work, such as territorial risk assessments or business process analysis, and present findings to local leadership.
- Use modern analytical and artificial intelligence tools while evaluating the quality and accuracy of AI-assisted outputs.
- Explore other corporate functions, including Risk Control and Claims.
- Engage in agency visits alongside Account Executives.
- Participate in the Enterprise Internship experience, including networking events, executive speaker series, and the Rising Senior Intern Symposium.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree or current pursuit of one.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, or Risk Management and Insurance.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
