About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2026. You will work alongside controls technicians and project managers to learn the responsibilities of a Controls Technician. This role involves field-based work at customer locations, where you will gain experience in building automation, HVAC controls, commissioning, programming, and system troubleshooting.
What you'll do#
- Document point to point verification, sequence of operations validation, and job close out requirements.
- Serve as a direct customer contact, identifying, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with team leaders, mentors, and customers to forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on-site installation and repair work.
- Stay current on Trane products regarding the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of direct digital control systems.
- Maintain security and accountability of company assets by recording use, wear, and conditions.
- Enforce safety standards and maintain flexibility to work overtime or weekends as required by business needs.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical school or formal training preferred.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Working proficiency with handheld computers, such as smartphones or iPads.
- Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with no major violations or frequent infractions in the previous 3 years.

- Compensation: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour.
