About the role#
As a Controls Install Technician Intern, you will work on-site to help install building automation systems. This role involves using your knowledge of low voltage electricity, electronics, and direct digital controls to support our climate solutions. You will work directly at customer locations to ensure systems are installed correctly and efficiently.
What you'll do#
- Install temperature control systems, including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices.
- Interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications using various hand tools.
- Prepare for installations by examining building layouts, gathering materials, and coordinating with other trades.
- Document your progress by completing daily paperwork, tracking time, and maintaining job files.
- Manage your assigned inventory and company equipment.
- Stay updated on Trane products related to direct digital control systems.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- At least 1 year of experience pulling wire and running conduit.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld devices like smartphones or tablets.
- A valid driver's license held for at least 12 months.
- Current or future participation in an electrical apprenticeship program is desired.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
