About the role#
ABC11-WTVD is offering a combined Community Engagement and Marketing internship for Winter 2027. This role focuses on how a local television station connects with audiences through community partnerships, digital storytelling, and marketing initiatives. You will work within the Marketing Department and the Community Engagement Department to support audience growth and community impact.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate the ABC11 Speakers Bureau, including talent appearances and speaking engagements.
- Support social media postings for community-focused and sponsored events.
- Assist with the planning and execution of community engagement initiatives, interviews, partner events, and onsite activations.
- Write, shoot, edit, and produce marketing content while maintaining brand consistency across television, social media, and streaming platforms.
- Produce news graphics, maps, and other elements for daily newscast production.
- Work with the marketing team to determine AI workflow and content creation efficiencies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, with at least one class taken at the time of application.
- Junior or Senior standing is preferred, with coursework in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Canva or similar tools.
- Working experience with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop.
- Demonstrated writing and professional communication skills.
- Experience using social media platforms for audience engagement.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have unrestricted work authorization.
- A portfolio or reel is required for consideration. Please include a link to this on your resume.
Location & details#
- This is a part-time, on-site internship based in Durham, North Carolina.
- You must be fully available to work from January 2027 through June 2027.
- The schedule is Monday through Friday, with the option for weekend events.
- You are responsible for your own housing in the Raleigh/Durham area and reliable transportation to and from work.
