About the role#
The Doe Run Company is offering a paid summer internship for students interested in a career as a Mine Geologist. This role is based at the Buick Mine in Boss, Missouri, and provides hands-on experience in the extraction of lead, zinc, and copper minerals. Interns will contribute to project deliverables while gaining exposure to operational processes within the Viburnum Trend.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project management, data analysis, and research tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to learn about assigned departments and operations.
- Conduct field work to support business and operational processes.
- Follow all EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited bachelor's degree program or higher in Geology or a related field.
- Completion of at least 24 hours of college coursework is preferred.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2.
- You must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid driver's license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other project-related computer systems.
- Ability to apply classroom knowledge to operational needs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication skills for interacting with operators and business leaders.
Location & details#
- Location: Boss, Missouri.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $21.50 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Note: This role involves working in an office setting as well as underground mining environments. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in humid conditions, and occasionally work near mechanical parts or in loud environments. All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a drug screen, physical, and background check.
