About the role#
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is hiring a Grant Writing Intern for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the Advancement team to research and draft proposals for the Centennial Capital Campaign. This position provides project-based experience in fundraising and museum operations.
What you'll do#
- Research potential foundation, corporate, and government funders.
- Draft letters of intent and full grant proposals.
- Write first drafts of grant reports.
- Partner with museum departments to collect project data and evaluation results.
- Assist the Development Team with donor event correspondence, setup, and stewardship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program, such as English, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing.
- Strong writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Availability for at least 20 hours per week during the weekday window of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Ability to work independently.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
- Previous experience in grant writing or nonprofit communications is a plus.
- A writing sample is encouraged with your application.

- This position is located on-site in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The role is part-time and paid.
- You must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
